Postnatal Doula Cooking
I am absolutely loving these 3 gorgeous cook books at the moment! So many really tasty, nourishing recipes that are not too tricky, and lots that you can batch cook and freeze too. One of my faves is the preserved lemon and chickpea stew in Anna Jones’s lovely book!
I love to cook, and I especially loved to cook for friends and family. But there is something special about being cooked for... particularly in the postnatal period. I found cooking, something that I love turned into a source of stress for me. I knew I wanted to eat delicious food, and I knew I needed nourishing food, but honestly trying to create the two with a toddler running around and a newborn to feed is nearly impossible!
So, PLEASE, if you’re going to visit someone who’s had a baby, take food, lots of it. There is no better gift. And if you are a mama in need of nourishment, ask for food, whether that is from friends, family or a doula. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for what you need!
One of the (very) many reasons for becoming a doula for me is to share my love of food and nourish mama’s with food that is good for the body and soul.
Welcome any of your favourite recipe book recommendations - always looking to add more to my shelf!
